How to Thoroughly Clean Compaq Presario CQ60 keyboard

Like many household appliances, Compaq Presario CQ60 keyboard seem to attract a lot of dust and dirt. With keyboards especially, this can greatly affect their performance. With minimal time and effort, you can have Compaq Presario CQ60 keyboard functioning like new.

   1. Shutdown the computer and unplug the power cord.
   2. Turn the Compaq Presario CQ60 keyboard upside down and shake to remove crumbs, hair, etc.
   3. Using a damp (damp, not dripping) cloth, wipe the keyboard down.
   4. Tilt the keyboard on its side and use a can of compressed air (available at computer and hardware stores) to blow off the keyboard. This will clean the areas you can’t reach.
   5. Use a cotton swab dampened with an alcohol/water solution to clean dirt from between the keys. Before touching the swab to the keyboard, dab it on a cloth to remove any excess liquid. You don’t want the solution to drip between the keys.
   6. Any sticky keys will have to be removed to be effectively cleaned. The keys on most keyboards can be pried off with a screwdriver (it’s a good idea to check with the manufacturer of your Compaq Presario CQ60 keyboard before attempting to remove keys). GENTLY pry the keys loose one at a time. Clean thoroughly, let dry and then click back in place.
   7. Performing the above steps regularly will keep your keyboard clean and functioning well.
