How to Clean HP Pavilion DV9000 keyboard
Does your HP Pavilion DV9000 keyboard get a good workout every day? Finding those keys maybe easy, but is there grim, food particles and even hair stuck under your laptop keys? These little pieces can make your laptop keyboard stick or worse yet, break. Replacing a laptop keyboard is expensive and so is the downtime of not having your computer. If your keys are starting to stick or just looking nasty, then it is time to clean it up. With a few simple steps you can have your laptop keyboard looking good as new!
Instructions: Make sure the HP Pavilion DV9000 keyboard is cleaned on a regular schedule. If you use your computer on a daily basis, then you need to make sure you clean it every few weeks. The more you use the more often you should clean the keyboards.
Things You'll Need:
compressed air
cotton swabs
cleaning solution
soft cleaning cloth
Step 1 Turn off your laptop and unplug it from any power source. Also, it is a good idea to remove the battery. After removing all power sources, press and hold the power button for about 10 seconds to dissipate any remaining electricity.
Step 2 Use a soft and clean cloth and gently wipe the keyboard area to remove any crumbs and debris. Do not use a paper towel as it may leave lint or scratch your computer. If this does not remove everything then you may also want to turn the computer upside down over a garbage can and gently tap it to remove more debris.
Step 3 Next, take your can of compressed air and blow out anything that is left. If you use your laptop keyboard very often, it isn't surprising little pieces come pushed out the side. The air will have a chemical inside of it, so be careful not to spray it directly into the computer. Hold it at an angle a few inches above the HP Pavilion DV9000 keyboard. Also use the compressed air to clean out I/O ports and vents.
Step 4 If your HP Pavilion DV9000 keyboard need further cleaning, then it is time to use some cleanser!
Use a soft cloth and dampen it in a solution of half warm water and half isopropyl alcohol. Wring out the cloth so that it is not saturated and proceed to wipe down the keyboard. Make sure not to drip any liquid into the computer!
If there are areas that are very tight or hard to reach then use cotton swabs dampened in the same solution. With a swab you can get in between the keys other spots.
You can also use this cloth to wipe down your touch pad.
Tips & Warnings
Tip it on the side, gently, to see what might fall out by the use of gravity. You won't see any big pieces of keys falling off, but you will notice mini pieces of indescribable items just fall out.
Try and keep your computer away from food and drinksDo not spray any liquid or cleaning fluid directly onto the computer.
If it is needed, wipe it down with a lightly damp rag. I use window wash for a cleaner as it is a soft cleaner, but there are special cleaners that can be used to wipe off all the germs on the tops of the HP Pavilion DV9000 keyboard.
